Since the painting continues all around a frame is not needed.
The canvas was primed with Daniel Smith Gold Gesso. It gives the painting a wonderful glow from within. Using sgraffito shows the gold underneath.
I'm obsessed with Ravens. I see them everywhere...I look for them all the time. Raven has became my totem, my spiritual guide, a symbol to express my inner self, who I am and how I want to live.
I believe ravens carry the messages of our souls. Their blackness is the maternal night and the primeval darkness is beginning.
They also represent spiritual strength from within, awakening and creative power. It's their wit, sophisticated social structure and the curiosity these birds display, coloring their spiritual significance that inspires the foundation of these paintings.
